Mollepata - Salkantay - Machu Picchu
Program 5 days 4 nights
Day 1:
Cusco - Soraypampa
We will leave Cusco at 5:00 a.m. crossing
Izcuchaca, Limatambo, we will arrive to Mollepata
approximately at 09:00 a.m. and then we will begin
the trakking of the first day after a great
breakfast in Mollepata, we will start the walk at
noon, then we will have lunch in a place called
Silca Cancha and 3 hours later we will arrive to the
first campsite called Soraypampa.
Day 2:
Soraypampa - Huayrac arrayanniyuc
After having a great breakfast at 06:00 a.m. we will
begin the most difficult part of the route, we will
leave at 07:00 a.m. we will cross Pampa Salkantay
and then we will go to the left site of the
Snow-covered mountain of Umantay that is located
near of Salkantay snow-covered mountain at noon,
then we will cross the highest part (Salkantay
Umantay pass at 4 500 m.s.n.m. – 14 763 feet).
Here we will appreciate an amazing
view of the fall snow thaw, of the Salkantay
snow-covered mountain, then after having rested for
one hour we will have a lunch in a place called
Ichupata, where we will appreciate some Vizcachas
and foxes, after the lunch we have 3 more hours to
descend arriving to the campsite called Challhuay or
Collpabamba crossing the communities of Huayrac and
Arrayanniyuc.
Day 3:
Huayrac Arrayanniyuc - Playa Sihuayaco
The third day, we will leave at 07: a.m. It will be
unforgettable because we will see a great variety of
flora and fauna along the road starting in
Challhuay, we will keep descending to the jungle and
we will appreciate the junction of Totora and
Salkantay Rivers that are tributaries of the
Urubamba River and we will also see the formation of
thermal springs and magnificent waterfalls, then we
will arrive approximately at 1:00 p.m. to the town
of Wiñay Poko (lunch), after having lunch we will
walk for 4 hours descending and then we will arrive
to the third campsite called La Playa Sihuayaco
where we will have dinner.
Day 4: Playa
Sihuayaco - Llactapata
We will leave at 7:00 a.m., we will take public
transportation, we will travel for approximately one
hour where we will appreciate a variety of crops
such as coffee, fruit trees: banana, avocado,
orange, granadilla and Coca leafs, a holy plant in
Inka times and it is cultivated nowadays in tropical
area like this ones, we will arrive to the district
of Santa Teresa and then we will walk in the shores
of Vilcanota River, this day is the most exiting one
because we will cross the Vilcanota River by a
bridge called Oroya, one hour of trekking and we
will arrive to a place called the hydroelectric
where we will have lunch, We will rest, then we will
take a train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town),
we will be there in 45 minutes arriving
approximately at 04:00 p.m. where we will have
dinner and we will sleep in a hostel.
Optional: Llactapata is an inka
trail in restoration for approximately 5 hours
arriving to the hydroelectric.
Day 5:
Llactapata - Machu Picchu - Cusco
After having breakfast we will go to the citadel of
Machu Picchu, trakking for 1 hour and 45 minutes, we
will have a guided visit of 2 hours and then we will
have some free time to visit the citadel by your own
and take some pictures; then we will return to Aguas
Calientes (Machu Picchu Town) and take a trail that
is leaving at 03:45 p.m. toward Cusco, we are
arriving at 08:30 p.m.

altitude sickness, snacks (coca leafs), etc.
